Workers across Dungeons & Dragons, D&D Beyond, and Studio X (Magic: The Gathering tabletop) have announced their intent to unionize under United Wizards of the Coast and the Communications Workers of America. Following the recent union victory by the MTG Arena team, these workers are seeking voluntary recognition from WotC and Hasbro. Their key demands include protections against AI encroachment, fair wages, job security amidst industry layoffs, improved working conditions, and the right to maintain full ownership of creative projects made on their own time.

Orb Tyrants is a third-party, miniature-agnostic TTRPG skirmish game set in the Forbidden Psalm ecosystem, currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. Designed for 1 to 4 players with solo and campaign modes, players create randomly generated floating horrors, harvest organs from rival monsters, and fight for dungeon dominance on a compact battlefield using fast alternating activations.

Renegade Game Studios has announced the conclusion of its publishing partnership with White Wolf for World of Darkness titles, meaning RGS will no longer publish or sell Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, or Hunter: The Reckoning after January 1, 2026. Concurrently, Renegade renewed its licensing agreement with Hasbro to continue producing games based on major IPs such as Transformers, G.I. JOE, Power Rangers, and classic board games, while also preparing second editions and new TTRPG expansions.

Free League Publishing and lead designer Francesco Nepitello are crowdfunding new expansions and revised rules for The One Ring RPG on Backerkit. The campaign introduces the Gondor campaign expansion (The White Tower and the Hall of Gold), a comprehensive bestiary (Creatures Strange and Foul), and a updated Core Rulebook featuring a dedicated solo mode (Strider Mode), with parallel 5.5e-compatible adaptations released under Lord of the Rings Roleplaying.

Cubicle 7 has announced the 5th Edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, timed to coincide with the game’s 40th anniversary. The new edition is currently available for pre-order, which grants immediate access to the PDF, while the physical hardcovers are expected to ship in Spring 2027. This edition remains backwards compatible with the 4th edition, retaining the classic d100 system and the “grimdark” Old World setting while refining rules for combat, magic, and character careers.

Steve Jackson Games and Lynnvander Studios are collaborating to adapt the classic, trope-filled Munchkin card game into a 5.5E-powered tabletop roleplaying game. This new system aims to transition the card game’s signature chaotic, loot-focused parody into a functional RPG experience with official rules support. Launching in October, the project will include the “Ye Olde Rulebook,” new subclasses, and unique “Pun-spiration” and “Cheeky Cheating” mechanics that encourage players to prioritize greed and backstabbing in their campaigns.

A proposed settlement in the Diamond Comic Distributor bankruptcy case has faced a new obstacle due to an objection filed by Sparkle Pop, the company that currently holds the warehouse assets. While the settlement was intended to return consigned inventory to publishers like Green Ronin and Paizo, Sparkle Pop is disputing the deal, citing outstanding claims for warehouse rent and processing fees. This objection has stalled the resolution, leaving affected publishers waiting for the release of their long-held stock from the Mississippi warehouse.

Bloat Zines is currently crowdfunding for “Skullcrusher,” a grimdark fantasy RPG inspired by 90s-era D&D sessions and the New School Revival movement. Created by Eric Bloat, the game emphasizes accessibility through streamlined mechanics and is being released under a Creative Commons license that invites others to create official content. The Kickstarter campaign is currently live, offering both digital and print options, and the team is prioritizing a timely delivery by avoiding stretch goals.

Felicia Day’s new movie,The Guild: Ren Faire’d, funded via Kickstarter, includes a D&D 5.5e campaign setting book and TTRPG created by Hit Point Press, which has already surpassed its funding goals.

Justice League Unlimited RPG has launched on Gamefound, marking the first new DC RPG in nearly two decades. Co-authored by Mark Waid, the game allows players to build custom heroes using a variety of origins and powers, with the project already fully written and moving toward production.

Chris McDowall is expanding his Bastionland series with Intergalactic Bastionland, a game that departs from traditional sci-fi tropes. Instead of swashbuckling adventures, players take on the roles of crew members aboard a massive starship, navigating a complex hierarchy, office politics, and personal obligations. The game draws inspiration from the claustrophobic atmosphere of Paranoia and the British schooling system, emphasizing a “home base” structure where players troubleshoot issues and occasionally take smaller vessels out for private, time-limited missions.

LOOTERS: A Game of Unlicensed Adventure from Mordite Press offers a unique twist on dungeon-crawling by casting players as the brigands, witches, and cultists typically targeted by “heroes.” Designed for one-shot sessions, the game focuses on “smash & grab” gameplay where players must raid dungeons for loot and escape before authorities arrive. The system emphasizes teamwork, inventory management, and careful navigation of dangers.
