Wizards of the Coast (WotC) is signaling a massive strategic shift toward outsourcing the development of official *Dungeons & Dragons* content to third-party publishers, as evidenced by a recent job post for a “TRPG Publishing Lead”. This role is explicitly tasked with overseeing “externally developed D\&D content, including adventures, campaign materials, guides, and artwork”. This change follows internal team restructuring, the adoption of a holistic D&D franchise model, and WotC’s recent decision to actively feature third-party products on D\&D Beyond. Although WotC has previously worked with third-party designers for early D&D 5E supplements like “Hoard of the Dragon Queen” and “Princes of the Apocalypse” The practice was largely abandoned in 2016, making this an important new chapter in the company’s relationship with outside publishers.

Paizo’s Pathfinder launched a new subscription service called Paizo Printables on April 2, offering 3D printable miniature files and accompanying TTRPG content. The service provides two monthly subscription tiers—$4.99 and $9.99—with the higher tier including a welcome pack of 25 minis, a monthly themed pack, and digital rulebooks. Associate publisher Thurston Hillman stated that the primary goal is accessibility, bypassing the delays of physical production, and the new format offers Paizo the freedom to create niche, setting-specific miniatures. Ultimately, Paizo aims to use the platform to introduce exclusive rules content and new ancestries to the game in the future.

A new physical and digital bundle is available for the Dune – Adventures in the Imperium RPG by Modiphius, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The physical bundle includes the *Agents of Dune Deluxe Starter Set*, the Atreides collector’s edition of the *Dune: Core Rulebook*, and an Arrakis-themed dice set. Most of the titles offered in the physical bundle seem to be sold out as of this post.

The Kickstarter campaign for LOWLIFE: A DUNGEON DEGENERATES ROLE PLAYING GAME, by Sean Äaberg and Goblinko, is currently live and heading toward its funding goal. The project is a major expansion of the Dungeon Degenerates: Hand of Doom board game world, creating a full TTRPG described as “Grand Theft Auto meets Game of Thrones” and focused on “low drama” stories of survival in the dark fantasy continent of Bödengärd. The game utilizes a customized Old School Renaissance (OSR) engine with a d20 roll-low mechanic and features simultaneous, deadly combat. Key mechanics include tracking “Meat & Morale” as a combined resource—where the spirit often breaks before the body—and using “Heat” to track the players’ wanted level with local authorities. Core reward tiers include the *LowLife Core RPG Book*, the Doomed Life expansion (to bridge the RPG and board game), and world guides.

Feywyn RPG, a new fantasy setting and game from RiotMinds, is an Arthurian-inspired dark fantasy tabletop RPG that blends Celtic myth with mist-shrouded folklore. Set in a land where the boundary between the mortal and spirit realms is thin, the game challenges players to resist the encroaching Mist and fight supernatural threats. The core mechanic involves rolling a d20 and adding an attribute to meet a Challenge Value, with character consequences accumulating through Wounds (physical danger) and Fear (supernatural terror). A beta version of the Feywyn Digital Companion has also been released, providing a VTT, character creation tools, a dice roller, and a bestiary.

The Draw Steel Codex VTT is a new online tool and virtual tabletop for Draw Steel, the action-oriented fantasy RPG from MCDM, which prioritizes “heroic action over complex mechanics”. Available in Early Access for $19.99, the Codex includes all core rules from Draw Steel: Heroes and Draw Steel: Monsters, as well as “The Delian Tomb – Start Here Adventure” to help parties begin playing quickly. Key features of the VTT include tools for building or importing custom maps with dynamic lighting and multiple levels, along with the ability for each player to create custom characters, profile icons, and battle soundtracks. The VTT is designed to be suitable for both new and seasoned players, optimally supporting a Director with 3–6 players, and requires a 64-bit processor and 8 GB of RAM.

Rascal News looked at Groupfinder Data, which analyzes the current looking-for-group (LFG) landscape in the TTRPG community. The data from April 2026 confirms that Dungeons & Dragons remains the industry behemoth, accounting for approximately 60% of groups and 90% of player posts on the platform. However, when D&D data is excluded, a varied and thriving ecosystem of alternative systems is visible. The most popular non-D&D systems listed are Pathfinder, Daggerheart, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Cyberpunk RED.

Breathless: Frightmare Edition is a major update and expansion of the original 2022 two-page zombie survival TTRPG written by Rene-Pier Deshaies, now published by Mythworks. The original game gained notoriety for its mechanics that used diminishing dice to reflect tension and scarcity in a zombie-infested world, with over 350 other games or hacks using its core rules. This updated version is being released as part of Mythworks’ new STORYPAK line, which aims to lower the barrier to entry for TTRPGs by creating games that are simple and lightweight. Designed with a 90s slasher-horror/VHS aesthetic, Frightmare Edition is packaged in a cassette container holding 12 pamphlets, which include updated rules, tools for generating zombie dangers, and four adventures, allowing the game to be run as one-shots or longer 6-12 session campaigns

Luke Gygax, the son of D&D co-creator Gary Gygax, is collaborating with Wizards of the Coast (WotC) to return the Gygax name to the game’s original setting, Greyhawk. This move was engineered by Dan Ayoub, Dungeons & Dragons’ Head of Franchise, who publicly stated that the game had “lost its way” and that involving popular figures like Luke Gygax is an effort to set it on the “right path”. The collaboration will produce Melf’s Guide to Greyhawk (Melf was Luke Gygax’s original player character) and new adventures set in the world. WotC also announced a full presence at Gary Con to mend rifts with the Gygax family and reinforce their commitment to the community, with Ayoub affirming that retailers and “face-to-face physical play” will remain central to D&D.

Catalyst announced a new core product line for BattleTech, including a Core Rulebook, Starter Box, and Core Box, all scheduled to launch at Gen Con. These releases move the game’s entry point away from the Succession Wars and firmly into the ilClan era, introducing advanced tech like pulse lasers and Clan tech early on. The Starter Box replaces the older Beginner Box, featuring the Hammerhead and Kontio, while the Core Box replaces A Game of Armored Combat and Clan Invasion with eight mechs from various eras. The new Core Rulebook, built off the Battlemech Manual, incorporates significant changes from recent playtests, such as front-loaded unequal initiative and basing charge damage on the Target Movement Modifier (TMM).

Games Workshop announced Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition, slated for a June release, with a goal to bridge the gap between narrative and matched play. The edition refocuses the lore on the Armageddon conflict, pitting Imperial Forces against Orks. A key rules change eliminates fighting over objective circles, replacing them with combat for pieces of terrain. GW will allow current 10th edition codexes to remain usable at launch, and the new edition will feature over 70 new detachments. Other updates include reducing stratagem stacking (one per unit per phase), allowing players to roll charge dice before determining targets, and bringing back Combat Disembarking from transports engaged in melee.

Hours before Games Workshop’s major announcement, the “biblical horror wargame” Trench Crusade launched its first true starter set, Carcass Front, which is available for pre-order at $129.99 and set for a late July release. The box set contains 16 new plastic miniatures split into two warbands: the mobile, smaller-count Heretic Naval Raiders and the high model count, melee-focused Procession of the Sacred Affliction, a zealous cult who practice religious penance by deliberately inducing leprosy. Carcass Front emphasizes narrative play value, including two full campaigns: The Path to Leviathan, a 2-player narrative, and a map-based campaign designed for 2–8 players to battle over resources.

Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), highlighting a perceived decade of “executive fumbling.” This includes an inconsistent rebranding of the current ruleset, which the community has largely settled on calling 5.5e (the D&D 2024 ruleset), moving away from the “OneD&D” working title. Orken is a new transmedia universe from the IP design studio SIXMOREVODKA, creators of Degenesis. Unlike their previous work, Orken is not a tabletop game but a lore-driven fantasy suite expressed through art books and serialized fiction. The project explores the central conflict of the native, totemic Orken people of Edom fighting for survival against the technologically advanced invaders known as the Elemon (or “People of Metal”). The Kickstarter campaign for this project successfully funded its initial goal very quickly, focusing on providing immediate, finished, premium products to supporters.

Pumpkin Spice is a “magical cozy RPG” The game centers on a young coven of witches who run a magical cafe and protect a “Fount of Magic,” drawing inspiration from works like Kiki’s Delivery Service and Legends & Lattes. It utilizes a simple, narrative-first system with standard six-sided dice and “Essence Dice,” with mechanics revolving around brewing magical drinks and interacting with patrons, rather than combat. The campaign’s immense success led to the unlocking of several stretch goals, including a fully dedicated solo-play mode and expansions to the spellcasting system.

Renegade Game Studios will publish the Exodus Roleplaying Game in 2026. This sci-fi TTRPG is based on the upcoming Exodus video game developed by Wizards of the Coast’s Archetype Entertainment. The RPG was developed by James Ohlen (former lead designer for Baldur’s Gate) and notably uses 5E as its underlying engine. The initial releases from Renegade are scheduled for August and will include the Exodus Traveler’s Handbook and the Creature Catalog. This move is considered notable as WotC is collaborating with an outside company for the game’s wider release, suggesting a broader distribution strategy.

Napoleonica: Steel and Magic is a new high fantasy miniature wargame that reimagines the Napoleonic War with elements like Napoleon Bonaparte riding a Hippogriff. The miniatures are noted for their stunning, large-than-life resin casts from Signum Games. Mechanically, the game utilizes a system of drawing random Order Tokens and Maneuver Cards to activate units, which injects friction into army control reminiscent of games like *Memoir ’44*. Additionally, a bid for the Leader role determines the round’s intensity via an Escalation Card, which controls the number of Orders and Maneuver Cards drawn.

En Garde is a forthcoming fast-paced, one-versus-one duelling game in the 54mm scale, set in a Low Fantasy world of swashbucklers and brigands. Conceived by John Blanche and Tuomas Pirinen, the game will feature hand-sculpted miniatures from artists like Paul Hicks, with an initial release via a crowdfunding campaign called Vanguard. The setting includes a twist with vampires being the “good guys,” and the core design aims to make duels dynamic and engaging beyond simple combat.

The sunsetting of the BlackLibrary.com website and the Black Library Audio app will happen on August 31st. They are to be replaced by a single new Black Library app launching on March 18th that will feature an inbuilt eReader and MP3 player. Current account holders are urged to link their accounts and download older, unsupported content before the cutoff date. Community concerns are noted regarding the new app being a closed ecosystem with no integration for external eReaders or content from third-party sellers like Amazon and Audible, which ties into the ongoing DRM and “own versus license” debate among consumers.

Asmodee made two major announcements, acquiring the Sheriff of Nottingham IP from CMON and striking a second deal with Netflix for Ticket to Ride. The Sheriff of Nottingham acquisition, following previous deals for CMON IPs like Zombicide, is attributed to CMON’s ongoing financial difficulties. Sheriff of Nottingham will join Asmodee’s Z-man studios. The Ticket to Ride deal with Netflix is similar to the Catan deal, granting a license for multiple shows or films. The first project will be a Ticket to Ride film, with Ben Mekler and Chris Amick attached to write the script. No premiere date has been set.

Legitimate Salvage is a new game in the Forbidden Psalm line, a tabletop miniatures game about “corporate space horror” that is inspired by and compatible with the MÖRK BORG TTRPG. In the game, you control a crew of four working for the R&R company, whose business is rescuing people lost in space and who refuse to pay hazard pay unless someone dies, forcing your crew to work off their debt in the great uncaring void. The game features new mechanics, including debt, stress, and rules for zero gravity combat, alongside new monsters and equipment, all compatible with other Forbidden Psalm games like 28 Psalms and Killsampleprocess.

Free League is bringing back the iconic world of Trudvang as a standalone tabletop roleplaying game, *Dragonbane: Trudvang*, which is fully compatible with their current, award-winning edition of *Dragonbane*. The setting, rooted in Nordic mythology, features shadowed woods, dreadful beasts, and endless mystery. The core rulebook will adapt and expand the *Dragonbane* ruleset for the *Trudvang* setting, including new kin, professions, heroic abilities, and unique magic for vitner weavers and dimwalkers. The Kickstarter campaign offers four hardback volumes in Swedish and English, with early access Beta PDFs a few months after the campaign concludes.

Modiphius and Humble Bundle have released a massive Fallout Tabletop Mega Bundle, which includes content for both the *Fallout Tabletop RPG* and the *Fallout: Wasteland Warfare* miniatures skirmish game. It features a bespoke design by Alessio Cavatore and Zak Barouh, combining fast-paced, narrative-driven mechanics with the philosophical depth of the source material. The game is set in a near-future world of cybernetics and political intrigue, where players design their own trainee agents in Section 9 and features rules for combat and hacking, a rich armoury of gear, and the first mission, *Lost Patriot*. This is the second *Ghost in the Shell* TTRPG due in the same year, following the crowd-funded *Ghost in the Shell Arise TTRPG* by Mana Project Studio, which is based on the anime.

Blades ’68 is an official 450-page expansion for the TTRPG Blades in the Dark. This supplement advances the timeline 100 years to the “Swinging Sixties” in the city of Doskvol, an age of electroplasmic fusion and “Bluetime” spy games. The expansion introduces new playbooks, crews, and a revamped setting, alongside new rules for Harm, Resistance, Keys, Deadlocks, and an adapted Trouble Engine. The campaign has been overwhelmingly funded, with an expected delivery date of August 2026.

Paizo, the publisher of Pathfinder, announced the new Pathfinder Beginner Box: Secrets of the Unlit Star, an all-inclusive entry point to Pathfinder Second Edition set for release on May 6th, 2026. The box set features a solo adventure, a 72-page Hero’s Handbook, an 88-page Game Master’s Guide, and updated rules for character options and adventure scenarios. Additionally, Paizo confirmed its commitment to the Pathfinder 2E Remaster with the release of Dark Archive Remastered and the announcement of Season of Ghosts Remastered. Maestro Media unveiled Avatar: Pandora’s Power, a two-player asymmetric lane-battling card game based on the Avatar films. The game pits the resource-extractive RDA against the adaptive, land-rooted Na’vi factions, with the goal of reaching 30 points to decide Pandora’s fate. The official announcement of Crows by MCDM Productions, a new dungeon-crawling RPG led by James Introcaso appeared on Patreon. The game uses D6s and D10s, features a health system tied to inventory slots similar to Knave, and determines experience points based on the value of loot collected. It differs from a previous project, Draw Steel, by including potential negative results on the “power roll” but allows unlimited circumstantial bonuses for good planning. Crows also includes a base-building component where players develop their headquarters town and is set in a world where Archmages, corrupted by their magic, disappeared after warring as Necromancers.

Undergoblin Heist by Hit Point Press is a hardcover adventure available with six accompanying miniatures. This wild sandbox goblin adventure is compatible with both Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Edition and Dungeon Crawl Classics. The players take on the role of the “Grotty Jacknives,” expert sneak-goblins tasked by Boss Soot to steal three magical artifacts from a cabbage goblin village. The adventure includes pre-generated characters, new species/class rules, a new spell, and a goblin Critical Hits table, and is written by Thom Denick with art and design by Bee Ho.

The “Magic: The Gathering’s newest Secret Lair” drop, titled ‘Prints Charming,’ was released on February 2 as a “Chaos Vault” experiment by Wizards of the Coast. The collection is a quartet of green spells with different illustration styles, but its unusual aspect is the variable pricing tiers. Instead of a fixed price, the drop was offered at multiple points, ranging from a low of $9.99 up to $39.99 (and a foil version up to $49.99), ostensibly to test how much fans value the product. Despite the secondary market value of the cards being around $6, the experiment yielded bizarre sales results, with the most expensive $49.99 foil edition selling out earlier than the cheaper $29.99 foil edition, indicating some buyers were voluntarily paying more. The article speculates this could be due to hopes for a secret bonus card, automated bots, or individuals opting for a higher price to leave cheaper options for others.

Orcs & Crafts Zine, a Kickstarter project focused on miniature terrain building rather than a game itself. The zine aims to teach the basics of creating miniature worlds, with the first 60-page issue focusing on cardboard foundations and requiring only basic tools like scissors and a hobby knife. The project emphasizes accessibility, creative control, and using everyday materials. It is supported by a team of “Orc assistants” like Crathar (Chief Crafting Officer for advanced tips), Painscar (focused on safety), and Bob (providing basic tips). The zine includes planning guides, technique breakdowns (e.g., wood planks, hills), step-by-step building instructions (e.g., Simple Cardboard Tree, Ruined Gnomish Distillery), and even unique movie recommendations from Martin for background crafting entertainment.
