Group SNE and Mugen Gaming are running a major crowdfunding campaign to fund the official full-English localization and release of Japan’s iconic 2d6 tabletop RPG, Sword World 2.5. The campaign covers the localization and printing of core rulebooks, accessory card packs, starter sets, dice, and digital compendiums across multiple platforms including Roll20, Foundry, and the new Sword World Nexus digital portal.

United Wizards of the Coast–CWA announced that Wizards of the Coast has declined to voluntarily recognize union units representing D&D and Studio X staff ahead of a formal vote. While WotC management stated they prefer direct collaboration and plan to vote against unionization, they committed to respecting the election outcomes administered by the National Labor Relations Board. Union organizers are seeking protections regarding generative AI, fair wages, layoff security, and personal IP rights.

Three major OSR projects have surfaced, highlighted by David “Zeb” Cook’s mythical adventure The Afterlife of King Neiren under Necromancer Games. Additionally, Luke Gygax and Gooey Cube launched The Temple of Inquinatious Evil, a 500-page homage to The Temple of Elemental Evil supporting multiple systems, while Advanced Fantasy Games successfully funded The Cradle of Skulls, a classic dungeon crawl designed for OSRIC and 1E AD&D.

More than two decades ago, Goodman Games launched Dungeon Crawl Classics #1: Idylls of the Rat King. Workers across Dungeons & Dragons, D&D Beyond, and Studio X (Magic: The Gathering tabletop) have announced their intent to unionize under United Wizards of the Coast and the Communications Workers of America. Following the recent union victory by the MTG Arena team, these workers are seeking voluntary recognition from WotC and Hasbro. Their key demands include protections against AI encroachment, fair wages, job security amidst industry layoffs, improved working conditions, and the right to maintain full ownership of creative projects made on their own time.

Orb Tyrants is a third-party, miniature-agnostic TTRPG skirmish game set in the Forbidden Psalm ecosystem, currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. Designed for 1 to 4 players with solo and campaign modes, players create randomly generated floating horrors, harvest organs from rival monsters, and fight for dungeon dominance on a compact battlefield using fast alternating activations.

Renegade Game Studios has announced the conclusion of its publishing partnership with White Wolf for World of Darkness titles, meaning RGS will no longer publish or sell Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, or Hunter: The Reckoning after January 1, 2026. Concurrently, Renegade renewed its licensing agreement with Hasbro to continue producing games based on major IPs such as Transformers, G.I. JOE, Power Rangers, and classic board games, while also preparing second editions and new TTRPG expansions.

Free League Publishing and lead designer Francesco Nepitello are crowdfunding new expansions and revised rules for The One Ring RPG on Backerkit. The campaign introduces the Gondor campaign expansion (The White Tower and the Hall of Gold), a comprehensive bestiary (Creatures Strange and Foul), and a updated Core Rulebook featuring a dedicated solo mode (Strider Mode), with parallel 5.5e-compatible adaptations released under Lord of the Rings Roleplaying.

Games Workshop has announced Necromunda Roleplay, a standalone tabletop RPG set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Designed as a companion to Necromunda Skirmish, the game utilizes a d100 roll-under system and comes as a Core Set featuring a 224-page rulebook, 18 plastic miniatures, playmats, dice, and custom character sheets.

Paizo announced upcoming price increases for select Pathfinder and Starfinder titles, taking effect on October 1st, 2026. Driven by US tariffs, global trade changes, and rising production costs following a difficult financial year, core hardcovers will increase by $10 to $69.99 USD, while pocket editions and select Lost Omens hardcovers will rise by $5. Green Ronin Publishing launched the Kickstarter for Nobunaga’s Black Castle, an official English-language edition of the Japanese Sengoku doom-metal tabletop RPG. Fully compatible with MÖRK BORG, the game casts players as vengeful souls rising from Hell to overthrow the demon-pact-bound Oda Nobunaga across an alternate 16th-century Japan.

LOOTERS: A Game of Unlicensed Adventure from Mordite Press offers a unique twist on dungeon-crawling by casting players as the brigands, witches, and cultists typically targeted by “heroes.” Designed for one-shot sessions, the game focuses on “smash & grab” gameplay where players must raid dungeons for loot and escape before authorities arrive. Paizo prepares to end its licensed partnership with the Archives of Nethys (AoN) on July 24th, affecting both thePathfinder and Starfinder ecosystems . Paizo stated that while the decision was partially influenced by a lack of generated royalties, it was also driven by the administrative burden of managing licenses and the need to clarify IP boundaries regarding artwork usage. Archives of Nethys plans to continue serving the community under the Community Use Policy, though this transition means the site will lose early access to books and must remove non-compliant artwork from its platform.

At the upcoming Gen Con, actor and D&D enthusiast Joe Manganiello will debut a live play event for his new setting, “Death Saves.” This “Black Label” setting, which shares its name with Manganiello’s existing clothing brand, will be showcased in a venue occupied by Wizards of the Coast. While the exact nature of the “Black Label” initiative remains speculative, observers suggest it could represent a new moniker for “adult” D&D content or an imprint for externally developed projects, similar to previous partnerships between Wizards of the Coast and third-party creators.

Modiphius Entertainment has announced a Wolfenstein TTRPG on Gamefound, which aims to capture the series’ high-octane, diesel-punk action. Mantic Games is launching an official Ghost in the Shell TTRPG, a long-term passion project from designer Alessio Cavatore. The game promises a custom narrative system and will include miniatures, aiming to translate the philosophical depth and visual style of the original manga into an immersive tabletop experience. Old Oak Games is preparing for the launch of Ink Ribbon, a survival horror TTRPG designed to emulate video games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, complete with inventory management and “deadly bio-weapon” scenarios. 

Goodman Games is readying the DCC RPG Book of Funnels, a hardcover collection featuring over 10 new 0-level adventures. These funnels are designed to be easily adaptable across various “Crawl Classics” systems, celebrating the popular format where players control multiple characters through high-stakes, often lethal encounters.

Vampire: The Masquerade is expanding its presence on D&D Beyond with a new 5.5E crossover product titled Bound by Blood, published by Ghostfire Gaming and featuring a new Kindred class and adventure. This move follows similar partnerships with other publishers, indicating a trend of rival games embracing the 5.5E ruleset. In a related shift, Renegade Games has announced it will discontinue its bespoke Essence20 system for new editions of its licensed properties like Transformers, GI Joe, and Power Rangers, transitioning instead to a modified version of Dungeons & Dragons 5.5E to reach a broader player base.

Green Ronin Publishing has officially released Valiant Adventures, a new TTRPG setting supplement for the Mutants & Masterminds third edition system. Based on the Valiant Universe, a shared world featuring characters like Bloodshot and X-O Manowa, the release includes two main volumes: the Hero’s Handbook and the Worlds of Valiant sourcebook. These supplements provide updated combat mechanics, a new “Hero Point” economy, and extensive lore, allowing players to explore this gritty and morally complex comic universe without requiring additional source material.

Award-winning designer Mike Shea, known as Sly Flourish, has announced Rise of the Lazy Gamemaster, a new 160-page resource designed to complement his previous Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master series. Unlike his earlier works that focused primarily on D&D 5E, this upcoming book will be system-agnostic, offering tools, tips, and adventure outlines adaptable to various systems including Shadowdark, Daggerheart, and Dragonbane. Shea aims to provide practical advice to speed up preparation and enhance interactivity, with a crowdfunding campaign for the project scheduled to launch in early July.

The independent TTRPG market has a new competitor with the launch of RPG Trader, a marketplace created by Ten Acre Games founder Hugh Lashbrooke to support indie creators. Designed as a specific alternative to larger platforms like DriveThruRPG and Itch.io, RPG Trader focuses on discoverability and flexible publishing tools, offering creators an 80% share of sales revenue. The platform distinguishes itself with a zero-tolerance policy for AI-generated content, an integrated print-on-demand service through Lulu, and a detailed taxonomy system to help players find games based on specific play styles and themes.

Hasbro recently cancelled a Dungeons and Dragons action game being developed by Giant Skull, the studio led by former Star Wars Jedi director Stig Asmussen, though Giant Skull is currently looking for a new publishing deal. Meanwhile, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has announced that more D&D crossover products are in the works, drawing inspiration from the success of Magic: The Gathering, and he described the upcoming space opera RPG Exodus as “D&D in space”. Separately, the United Wizards of the Coast union reported that WotC and Hasbro have hired a union avoidance firm and are conducting a daily anti-union campaign via email. Wizards of the Coast launched “Drops,” a new weekly and monthly feature providing content like maps, spells, and feats exclusively for D&D Beyond Hero and Master tier subscribers. While intended as a value-add, Drops content cannot be shared among campaign members using the Master tier subscription—the traditional core benefit of the service—and access is lost if a subscription is cancelled. D&D Beyond executives claim this restriction is a necessary tradeoff to ensure designers are paid, but this shift effectively encourages every player in a group to purchase a minimum Hero Tier subscription to access all player-facing material.

Worlds Beyond Brawl is a campaign showcasing the One Page Rules Compatibility Program by offering over 500 3D printable models across 53 skirmish warbands from 18 miniature companies. All models are fully compatible with One Page Rules’ free games, Grimdark Future: Firefight and Age of Fantasy Skirmish, with custom stats provided on the Army Forge web app. The models are professionally supported and test-printed, available for personal use only, and are delivered to a user’s MyMiniFactory library upon pledging.

Modiphius is running its “Press Start to Play” spring sale for the next 40 days, offering savings of up to 50% on a massive list of RPGs, board games, and accessories. The sale includes major titles such as Fallout: The Roleplaying Game, Star Trek Adventures 2E, and Dune: Adventures in the Imperium, as well as a large collection of Fallout miniatures. Recommended RPG highlights include Homeworld: Revelations, Infinity, and the pulp WWII title Achtung! Cthulhu.

Dungeon Scrawl launched a free, instant, and browser-based map generator for TTRPGs that requires no installation or account. This easy-to-use mapmaking app is presented as a solution for Game Masters who need maps quickly during a session or a starting point for a new project. The feature uses procedural generation (not AI) to instantly create fully explorable, gridded dungeon maps. Users can customize the results by adjusting input criteria such as overall map size, layout style, room count, room size and shape, and corridor length and width.Every map generated is fully editable. Finished maps can be exported for use on any Virtual Tabletop (VTT), or they can be printed or broadcast to a TV/monitor using the “Send to Tabletop” tool for in-person games. The Random Dungeons feature is currently available in beta.

Free RPG Day 2026 will take place on June 27th, featuring 30 unique tabletop RPG publishers and accessory makers who will provide free modules, quick start guides, and accessories to participating Friendly Local Game Stores. Publishers participating this year include Paizo (with a Pathfinder 2E and Starfinder 2E adventure), Chaosium, Darrington Press (with a Daggerheart adventure), and Marvel (with a Multiverse RPG preview). The goal is to raise awareness of the TTRPG hobby, and customers are advised to use the official store locator and show up early due to limited inventory.

Mantic Games is currently taking pre-orders for two new 10mm armies for the Epic Warpath sci-fi wargame: the Veer-Myn and the Marauders. The Marauder Core Army, provided in high-detailed plastic, brings infantry and armored vehicles like Hammer Assault Tanks, while resin Marauder Reinforcements add heavy firepower, air support, and the massive Wolfcrawler Mech. Similarly, the Veer-Myn Core Army includes burrowing units like Stalkers and Tunnelers, built from ramshackle technology. Veer-Myn Reinforcements add monstrous units such as Brood Guard and Night Terrors, along with the large, weapon-bristling Technonest miniature.

Financially-troubled publisher CMON plans to resume crowdfunding activities in the second half of 2026, following annual losses that soared to $19.9 million in 2025. This recent loss contributed to $23 million in losses across 2024 and 2025, prompting an independent auditor to question the company’s ability to continue as a “going concern”. CMON’s directors maintain that the company is sustainable, citing financial support from directors and proceeds from the sale of its Singapore office and a recent share sale. The company’s liabilities are largely due to eight undelivered crowdfunding campaigns—including DC Super Heroes United and DCeased, now slated for Q4 2026—and five undelivered pre-order campaigns. CMON’s new strategy focuses on reducing large-scale crowdfunding exposure, pivoting toward growth in the Asian market, and maintaining a streamlined operation with a reduced headcount.

Free League announced an expansion of its Free Tabletop License (FTL) to cover five of its core role-playing games: Dragonbane, Forbidden Lands, Symbaroum, Coriolis: the Great Dark, and Coriolis: The Third Horizon. This royalty-free, irrevocable open game license permits third-party creators to publish their own adventures and supplements for these titles. Free League stated that this move will benefit the longevity and popularity of the games and the broader community. Furthermore, the expanded license supports third-party publication not just in English, but also in several other languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, and Portuguese.

Free League Workshop also announced Fomoria RPG, an upcoming folk horror game created in partnership with award-winning designers Tania Herrero and Johan Nohr, the co-creator of MORK BORG. Described as a game of “epic horror,” Fomoria is set in a dark, subterranean world where the sun is a myth and players navigate the “living, breathing labyrinth of shifting tunnels” known as the Strata. The game uses a modified MORK BORG engine and offers options for players to take on the role of subterranean creatures in a world “built of monsters and bones”. The Kickstarter campaign is set to launch soon, but a Quickstart set of rules is currently available, including pre-generated characters and an introductory adventure.
