Paizo, which has focused exclusively on Pathfinder and Starfinder for the past 25 years, is launching a new rules-lite, modern, supernatural horror TTRPG called 13 Omens. The game is designed by Paizo veterans Jason Bulmahn and Joe Pasini, and it is set in a dark reflection of our world beset by horrifying specters, bloodthirsty killers, and cursed places. Although few mechanical details are currently available, the description of it being “rules-lite” suggests the game will not use the Pathfinder 2E system as a base.

The Dungeon Crawler Carl TTRPG from Renegade Game Studios is making history by becoming the most-followed TTRPG launch in crowdfunding, raising over $5.3 million in its first 24 hours on BackerKit. The game adapts the popular LitRPG novel series by Matt Dinniman, which chronicles the adventures of Carl and his sapient cat, Princess Donut, as they are forced to compete in a hyper-violent, 18-level World Dungeon broadcast to an intergalactic audience. The TTRPG uses a skill-based D20 system where players can choose from over 30 species and unique classes like Shotgun Messenger, and players roll all the dice while the Gamemaster takes on the role of the System AI.

Cthulhu, the terrifying entity created by H.P. Lovecraft, is officially entering the Dungeons & Dragons multiverse via the upcoming 5.5e supplement, Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, which is set for release in June. The ultimate eldritch monster will be a Darklord for a new Domain of Dread known as Innsmouth and will receive a complete stat block, lore, and associated magic items. While Cthulhu was briefly included in the 1980 AD\&D *Deities & Demigods* supplement before being removed due to a copyright dispute, this release marks his triumphant, official return to core D\&D content.

Free League Publishing is marking the 10th anniversary of its dark fantasy RPG Symbaroum with a new Kickstarter launching on May 19th. The campaign will feature a revised core rulebook set, which reorganizes the original content into three books, alongside a brand new campaign setting called City States of Vendilyn – A Ravaged Realm. The new setting details a realm devastated by the malevolent elves of Duskwood. Symbaroum is known for its gritty and deadly gameplay that uses a D20 roll-under core mechanic.

Wizards of the Coast (WotC) is signaling a massive strategic shift toward outsourcing the development of official *Dungeons & Dragons* content to third-party publishers, as evidenced by a recent job post for a “TRPG Publishing Lead”. This role is explicitly tasked with overseeing “externally developed D\&D content, including adventures, campaign materials, guides, and artwork”. This change follows internal team restructuring, the adoption of a holistic D&D franchise model, and WotC’s recent decision to actively feature third-party products on D\&D Beyond. Although WotC has previously worked with third-party designers for early D&D 5E supplements like “Hoard of the Dragon Queen” and “Princes of the Apocalypse” The practice was largely abandoned in 2016, making this an important new chapter in the company’s relationship with outside publishers.

Paizo’s Pathfinder launched a new subscription service called Paizo Printables on April 2, offering 3D printable miniature files and accompanying TTRPG content. The service provides two monthly subscription tiers—$4.99 and $9.99—with the higher tier including a welcome pack of 25 minis, a monthly themed pack, and digital rulebooks. Associate publisher Thurston Hillman stated that the primary goal is accessibility, bypassing the delays of physical production, and the new format offers Paizo the freedom to create niche, setting-specific miniatures. Ultimately, Paizo aims to use the platform to introduce exclusive rules content and new ancestries to the game in the future.

A new physical and digital bundle is available for the Dune – Adventures in the Imperium RPG by Modiphius, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The physical bundle includes the *Agents of Dune Deluxe Starter Set*, the Atreides collector’s edition of the *Dune: Core Rulebook*, and an Arrakis-themed dice set. Most of the titles offered in the physical bundle seem to be sold out as of this post.

The Kickstarter campaign for LOWLIFE: A DUNGEON DEGENERATES ROLE PLAYING GAME, by Sean Äaberg and Goblinko, is currently live and heading toward its funding goal. The project is a major expansion of the Dungeon Degenerates: Hand of Doom board game world, creating a full TTRPG described as “Grand Theft Auto meets Game of Thrones” and focused on “low drama” stories of survival in the dark fantasy continent of Bödengärd. The game utilizes a customized Old School Renaissance (OSR) engine with a d20 roll-low mechanic and features simultaneous, deadly combat. Key mechanics include tracking “Meat & Morale” as a combined resource—where the spirit often breaks before the body—and using “Heat” to track the players’ wanted level with local authorities. Core reward tiers include the *LowLife Core RPG Book*, the Doomed Life expansion (to bridge the RPG and board game), and world guides.

Feywyn RPG, a new fantasy setting and game from RiotMinds, is an Arthurian-inspired dark fantasy tabletop RPG that blends Celtic myth with mist-shrouded folklore. Set in a land where the boundary between the mortal and spirit realms is thin, the game challenges players to resist the encroaching Mist and fight supernatural threats. The core mechanic involves rolling a d20 and adding an attribute to meet a Challenge Value, with character consequences accumulating through Wounds (physical danger) and Fear (supernatural terror). A beta version of the Feywyn Digital Companion has also been released, providing a VTT, character creation tools, a dice roller, and a bestiary.

The Draw Steel Codex VTT is a new online tool and virtual tabletop for Draw Steel, the action-oriented fantasy RPG from MCDM, which prioritizes “heroic action over complex mechanics”. Available in Early Access for $19.99, the Codex includes all core rules from Draw Steel: Heroes and Draw Steel: Monsters, as well as “The Delian Tomb – Start Here Adventure” to help parties begin playing quickly. Key features of the VTT include tools for building or importing custom maps with dynamic lighting and multiple levels, along with the ability for each player to create custom characters, profile icons, and battle soundtracks. The VTT is designed to be suitable for both new and seasoned players, optimally supporting a Director with 3–6 players, and requires a 64-bit processor and 8 GB of RAM.

Rascal News looked at Groupfinder Data, which analyzes the current looking-for-group (LFG) landscape in the TTRPG community. The data from April 2026 confirms that Dungeons & Dragons remains the industry behemoth, accounting for approximately 60% of groups and 90% of player posts on the platform. However, when D&D data is excluded, a varied and thriving ecosystem of alternative systems is visible. The most popular non-D&D systems listed are Pathfinder, Daggerheart, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Cyberpunk RED.

Breathless: Frightmare Edition is a major update and expansion of the original 2022 two-page zombie survival TTRPG written by Rene-Pier Deshaies, now published by Mythworks. The original game gained notoriety for its mechanics that used diminishing dice to reflect tension and scarcity in a zombie-infested world, with over 350 other games or hacks using its core rules. This updated version is being released as part of Mythworks’ new STORYPAK line, which aims to lower the barrier to entry for TTRPGs by creating games that are simple and lightweight. Designed with a 90s slasher-horror/VHS aesthetic, Frightmare Edition is packaged in a cassette container holding 12 pamphlets, which include updated rules, tools for generating zombie dangers, and four adventures, allowing the game to be run as one-shots or longer 6-12 session campaigns

Blades ’68 is an official 450-page expansion for the TTRPG Blades in the Dark. This supplement advances the timeline 100 years to the “Swinging Sixties” in the city of Doskvol, an age of electroplasmic fusion and “Bluetime” spy games. The expansion introduces new playbooks, crews, and a revamped setting, alongside new rules for Harm, Resistance, Keys, Deadlocks, and an adapted Trouble Engine. The campaign has been overwhelmingly funded, with an expected delivery date of August 2026.

Paizo, the publisher of Pathfinder, announced the new Pathfinder Beginner Box: Secrets of the Unlit Star, an all-inclusive entry point to Pathfinder Second Edition set for release on May 6th, 2026. The box set features a solo adventure, a 72-page Hero’s Handbook, an 88-page Game Master’s Guide, and updated rules for character options and adventure scenarios. Additionally, Paizo confirmed its commitment to the Pathfinder 2E Remaster with the release of Dark Archive Remastered and the announcement of Season of Ghosts Remastered. The company also partnered with One Page Rules to launch Paizo Printables, a new line of 3D printable wargaming miniature STLs compatible with the Age of Fantasy system, starting in Spring 2026.

Maestro Media unveiled Avatar: Pandora’s Power, a two-player asymmetric lane-battling card game based on the Avatar films. The game pits the resource-extractive RDA against the adaptive, land-rooted Na’vi factions, with the goal of reaching 30 points to decide Pandora’s fate. CEO Javon Frazier emphasized that the core experience is the asymmetry, with each faction playing a distinctly different game. Designed for ages 12 and up, the game plays in approximately 20-45 minutes and includes 170 Faction Cards, 18 Location Cards, and various tokens.

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks touted the company’s AI integration as a “clear success” during a recent earnings call, though he primarily referred to its deployment in non-creative, operational workflows such as financial planning, supply chains, and general productivity. Cocks stated that AI, in partnership with platforms like Google Gemini and OpenAI, is expected to free up over 1 million hours of lower-value work within the year. While he maintains a “human-centric creator-led approach,” Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has an explicit policy prohibiting its artists and writers from using generative AI for final D&D products, a stance that aligns with a user survey indicating over 60% of consumers would not buy D&D products made with AI.

Steamforged Games announced a significant price reduction (a $101/£74/€88 subsidy) for the Town Founder Pledge of the Terra Mystica Special Edition on Gamefound, lowering the price from $389 to $288, based on community feedback that the original price was too high for the full five-expansion bundle. The campaign is already highly funded.

IDW Games is releasing the first-ever tabletop RPG for the Godzilla franchise, titled Godzilla: The Roleplaying Game. It is being developed by former Warhammer legends Jervis Johnson, Mark Latham, and Gav Thorpe. The game is set in the “Kai-Sei Era” from the IDW comics and focuses on players joining G-Force to stop kaiju attacks. Notably, the system will be completely diceless, using a standard 52-card playing deck for mechanics. A Kickstarter launches in March 2026, with previews at PAX Unplugged.

Pinball Crawl Classics (Goodman Games): Goodman Games has licensed classic 1970s and 1980s pinball machine brands to create Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC RPG) adventures. The Pinball Crawl Classics boxed set will feature five adventures based on the plots of pinball machines like Gorgar, Centaur, Swords of Fury, Embryon, and Cosmic Gunfight. The product will be offered via crowdfunding in January 2026.

New Paizo Store Launch: Paizo is launching a new e-commerce store powered by Big Commerce, replacing their proprietary system. Paizo.com will go offline at 8 a.m. Pacific on Monday, November 10th, for an expected 2-3 day transition. Users will need to reset their passwords for the new store and verify their payment methods, addresses, downloads, and Paizo Plus reward tiers after the launch.

Paranoia: Five Clones from Alpha Complex (Miniatures Wargame): A preorder announcement for a new tabletop miniatures adventure wargame based on the Paranoia RPG, titled Paranoia: Five Clones from Alpha Complex. It is described as an “uncooperative” game with procedural group play and a Solo Mode, featuring secret societies, mutant powers, and 20 scenarios. Preorders are also open for a related range of Paranoia: Miniatures.

Wacom has introduced Yuify, a blockchain-based service designed to help digital artists and photographers claim and manage the ownership of their work. Available as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop and soon for Clip Paint Studio and Rebelle, Yuify allows artists to record their work on the blockchain, ensuring control over the legal use of their images through licensing. The Weekly LIVE 230 – Return to Perinthos, Evil Genius Demise, CMON Exclusivity and Pathfinder Official Soundtracks

A group of RPG creators is crowdfunding a physical book for a memorial megadungeon called Return to Perinthos, dedicated to the late D&D designer Jennell Jaquays. The project aims to cover Jaquays’ medical and funeral expenses, featuring nearly 90 interconnected dungeon levels mirroring her classic Caverns of Thracia. The 200-page book, designed by Luke Gearing, includes a fresh setting and a previously unpublished Q&A with Jaquays. The crowdfunding campaign on Crowdfundr, licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0, allows contributors to use various RPG systems, resulting in an eclectic mix. All proceeds from retail sales will go to Trans Lifeline in honor of Jaquays’ activism. The campaign runs until February 26th, with shipping expected in May.

Evil Genius Games, a tabletop RPG company, experienced a rapid decline from over 20 staff members to just six within a few weeks. The company faced financial troubles despite initial success, with staff working without pay for months. A failed collaboration with Netflix on the Rebel Moon tabletop game, accompanied by a lawsuit and subsequent settlement, contributed to the company’s woes. Internal conflicts arose over the use of controversial Web3 technologies, including AI, blockchain, and NFTs, and disagreements led to resignations and layoffs. Allegations of a toxic work environment, broken promises, and unethical behavior by the CEO were raised by former employees. The company is now seeking to recover with a smaller team and scaled-down ambitions. A crowdfunding campaign for Military Heroes sourcebooks is underway, emphasizing a commitment to avoid using AI or blockchains in their projects.

Board game company CMON LTD and crowdfunding platform Gamefound have entered into an exclusivity deal for tabletop crowdfunding and pledge management. CMON will now host its crowdfunding and preorder campaigns exclusively on Gamefound, marking a significant shift from its previous use of Kickstarter. The move is driven by Gamefound’s features and a desire to enhance the consumer experience. CMON’s current A Song of Ice & Fire: Tactics campaign on Gamefound has already raised over $1 million. Meanwhile, Backerkit, a crowdfunding platform, is gaining traction in tabletop gaming by attracting disenchanted Kickstarter users. Backerkit aims to offer a more intimate and sustainable relationship between backers and creators. The platform has experienced success with tabletop campaigns, managing projects that account for a significant percentage of Kickstarter funds. Backerkit’s CEO, Maxwell Salzberg, envisions crowdfunding as a way for creators to turn their unique projects into a long-term career. 

Pathfinder RPG has partnered with Michael Ghelfi Studios to produce official soundtracks for upcoming Adventure Path releases. Paizo, the studio behind Pathfinder, will collaborate with Michael Ghelfi Studios to create full-length soundtracks for Adventure Paths, enhancing the ambiance of tabletop RPG sessions. The partnership aims to provide players with memorable music associated with key themes, characters, and story beats from their campaigns. The soundtracks will be available for download alongside the Adventure Path volumes and can be streamed on various platforms, including YouTube, Spotify, and Bandcamp. Paizo plans to list the music on popular virtual tabletop programs for online RPG sessions.

The Deck of Sexy Things is a deck of playing cards designed for Dungeon Masters to handle romantic/sexual encounters in tabletop role-playing games. The cards will be fully agnostic, suitable for any race, gender, or orientation in characters.They can be used as a standard 52-card French-suited deck for various purposes. Each card features artwork by the artist 13th Warlock, portraying scenes for different circumstances (positive, neutral, negative, or weird). The crowdfunding campaign will Include game mechanics for various gaming systems such as AD&D, D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Castles & Crusades, Savage Worlds, FAST Core, and 13th Age. The deck will be printed on premium, casino-quality card stock for durability and high-resolution printing. Stretch goals include a Card Art Book PDF, Call of Cthulhu deck rules, Science Fiction Jokers, and a free PDF of The Folio: Black Label #1 Adventure.

Goodman Games plans to bring Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) to Roll20 through a crowdfunding campaign. DCC is an old-school fantasy dungeon-crawling RPG featuring unique mechanics and a challenging character progression system. The Roll20 integration includes all DCC mechanics, iconic adventures, and a campaign path from level 0 to 3. The crowdfunding campaign will launch in early February and aims to fund the complete DCC integration on Roll20.

Tabletop designers are organizing a game jam to create a megadungeon in memory of game designer and activist Jennell Jaquays.The game jam, named Return to Perinthos, encourages participants to submit dungeon content inspired by classic D&D adventure Caverns of Thracia. Crowdfunding proceeds will support Jaquays’ family, and profits from wholesale and retail sales will benefit Trans Lifeline, a grassroots nonprofit. Submissions are accepted until February 1st, and the project aims to create a diverse, system-agnostic dungeon.

Ars Magica, an RPG set in mythic Europe in the 1200s, is getting a definitive 5th Edition. The new edition, called Ars Magica 5th Edition Definitive, features extensive revisions and updates, including new art and layout. The crowdfunding campaign is set to launch in fall 2024, offering a deluxe, full-color, hardcover print edition with an open license. Atlas Games has also “resurrected” the original printer files for the Ars Magica 5th Edition line, making the entire back catalog compatible with the new edition.

This move has upset some players who invested in the older models, but Games Workshop’s focus is on growing the Primaris range. Games Workshop reports record revenue, profits, and dividends in its annual report for the year 2023. The company remains committed to continuous development of its intellectual property and expanding its global reach.

Paizo partners with Mirrorscape, an extended reality (XR) tabletop gaming platform, to bring Pathfinder and Starfinder into augmented reality. Players can now experience these games in a more immersive and interactive way using mobile devices. Set to launch on iOS and Android on July 25th, Mirrorscape is already generating buzz among tabletop roleplaying gamers. It offers a truly immersive experience where players can interact with game pieces, terrains, and miniatures in realistic 3D, no matter their location. This innovative technology has received positive coverage from major outlets like Wired, Wargamer, GamesRadar, and Dicebreaker.

CJ Leung, known for the @DontStopThinking YouTube channel, is launching a new tabletop RPG called “Cloudbreaker Alliance” on Kickstarter. It is an anime-inspired fantasy RPG with a unique combat system and a focus on strategic gameplay.
