The first session of the Cinematic Starter for the Free League Alien RPG available for download with all pre-orders of the game. Cinematic adventures are one-shot scenarios with pre-generated characters that replicate the tension and high body count of the Alien movies. We introduce the system and run through the characters and their relationships and talents. Our only complaint about the PDF is that it is not very printer-friendly being mostly light text on a black background. So we created a printer-friendly version of the character sheet and a player reference to help anyone interested in trying this adventure. #alienRPG#freeleague

Another deep dive into an RPG where we have both read the book and played a few session. This time it is Mutant: Mechatron – Rise of the Robots by Free League. It uses their Year Zero Engine, d6 dice pool system, and although it is a stand-alone game your robots can play with characters in both Mutant Year Zero and Genlab, once they escape Mechatron-7. We give you an overview of the system, character creation and the setting. Also a discussion of the surprising challenge of playing self-aware robot player characters. If you are familiar with Mutant Year Zero this is a great new take on post-apocalyptic characters and if you are new to the system and setting, it is well worth your time. Find out if this game is for you as we dive deep into Mutant: Mechatron.
Unboxing the Warhammer 40k Shadowspear box set. This box leads up to the Vigilus campaign and contains Primaris Ultramarines versus Dark Legion. The Librarian in Phobos armor and the new daemon engine, the Venomcrawler, are the most notable part of the new miniatures. These are all new original sculpts and no repackaged sprues from previous releases. It contains a campaign book and two mini codexes. This refreshes a tired line of chaos space marine sculpts and gives the Phobos keyword more use for the Primaris.
The latest Awaken Realms miniatures boardgame, Nemesis, has the very familiar sci-fi setting of a crew stranded on a xenomorph infested space ship. Although it is cooperative, each player has both a personal and corporate secret agenda that are part of their victory conditions. So when a player tells you that the engines are working or that you are totally headed to Earth, you might want to see for yourself. High-quality components and gorgeous miniatures make this game worth checking out. Don’t believe me? Watch the unboxing!
Is that a xenomorph egg in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
