A classic roleplaying game returns. The new retro-apocalypotic edition of Twilight: 2000, published in partnership with Game Designers’ Workshop, goes back to the roots of the franchise with a boxed set for sandbox roleplaying in the devastation of World War III. The new edition will be the fourth in the series, the first being released by GDW in 1984. Just like the original version, the new edition is set in a year 2000 devastated by war – now in an alternate timeline where the Moscow Coup of 1991 succeeded and the Soviet Union never collapsed.

Specifically, the University’s Arcanum where, with the author, Bee Zelda, Satine Phoenix, and Liz Anderson will play four students along with on the OneShot podcast every Monday. Mile High Comics of Denver, Colorado responds to DC Comics leaving Diamond Distribution. The core rules for the 9th edition of Warhammer 40k are released for free. The Bitter Reach, a new expansion and campaign setting for Forbidden Lands by Free League, has been officially released. We did an unboxing if you want a sneak peek.

Free League has released the physical copies of the Tales From The Loop Starter Set. Facade Games releases the fourth entry in their Dark Cities series, Bristol 1350. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, an action PCRPG by the infamously doomed 38 Studios, is getting a remastered version. Alice is Missing, the silent TTRPG, is on Kickstarter. Wretched and Alone Game Jam continues with great entries including Bluebeard’s Castle. Finally, we seek solace during these uncertain times in Albert Camus’ The Plague.

Idle Red Hands Weekly 049: Tales From the Loop Boardgame and Series, Warzone is Back, Superman Plays 40k, CMON suspended, Ankh and Frosthaven on Kickstarter

This week we discuss the Tales From the Loop Amazon series and the well-timed Free League boardgame on Kickstarter. Idle Red Hands is producing The Complete Mutant Chronicles, a video lore series about the Mutant Chronicles and Warzone setting. The Professional Nerd, @BryanCPSteele , announced that Res Nova has the license to produce a new edition of Warzone. The Man of Steel, Henry Cavill confirms his love for Warhammer 40k on Instagram. CMON ceases trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange because of “auditing issues”. They also launched a Kickstarter for Ankh: Gods of Egypt, which is third in the series of games by Eric M. Lang, including Blood Rage and Rising Sun. Fantasy Grounds reports a 150% boost in online sessions on their platform. Now maybe the time to see what a virtual tabletop is all about. The sequel to Gloomhaven is also live on Kickstarter. Frosthaven looks to be an equally impressive game and the designer, Isaac Childes, couldn’t deserve another big success more. He runs a great crowdfunding campaign. Here’s hoping things get back to normal soon and these projects go well.

Idle Red Hands 047: FFG Saves RPGs, Plaid Hat Games Reacquired, Free RPG Day 2020, Tales From the Loop Starter Set and Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika

Fantasy Flight Games is moving the production of their RPGs to Edge Entertainment. Plaid Hat Games founder, Colby Dauch, is reacquiring the company from Fantasy Flight Games. They will lose Dead of Winter, Mice and Mystics and Stuffed Fables in the deal. Free RPG Day 2020 will be on June 13th. It is now run by Gaming Days LLC and offers plenty of alternatives to the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game. To celebrate the release of their Amazon series based on their RPG “Tales From the Loop” Free League Publishing will be release a boxed starter set for the game which included pre-generated characters, a rulebook, an original adventure, map, and 10 custom dice. Warcaster: Neo Machanika by Privateer Press finished a successful Kickstarter campaign. This is their first new wargame IP produced for Kickstarter. It raises a few questions about their motives.

Amazon now lets you play the Starfinder RPG with Alexa simply by saying “Alexa, play Starfinder” and eventually paying for the privilege. Werewolf Fifth Edition is coming in 2021. Cool Mini or Not Kickstarted a Zombicide version of Night of the Living Dead. Just because. C’mon! We played the Hope’s Last Day cinematic adventure for the Alien RPG.
