Modiphius announces the end of their license to produce the Mutant Chronicles TTRPG third edition. All of their current stock of MC material will be half price until June when it will be discontinued. This will also include the remaining stock of their Siege of the Citadel. Did that delayed Kickstarter have anything to do with the end of their license? WizKids will collaborate with Kid Robot to produce a series of 3-inch vinyl figures based on the Dungeons and Dragons first edition Monster Manual. This set will include 14 blind boxes of the miniatures with a slightly chibi design thanks to Kid Robot. It is an odd translation of the original 1E illustrations. Critical Role ran a one shot of an Elden Ring RPG sponsored by Bandai Namco. Will it be a modified 5E or something closer to the upcoming Dark Souls TTRPG? Critical Role also announced another theatrical event partnered with Cinemark to bring their season three campaign to theaters. $40 gets you a ticket and a t-shirt. Round up the Critters and find a cinema near you! Oh, and Cursed City returns. No reasons given.

Kickstarter announced their are exploring the use of blockchain technology with hopes that it will open access to crowdfunding to countries that were previously excluded. The Weekly LIVE 127 – Lord of the Rings Film Rights, Bladerunner TV and League of Free Agents

The film right for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are up for sale. This includes live-action film. merchandise, gaming and live events rights. The owner is the Saul Zantz Company who has owned the rights since 1976 and is also in litigation with Warner Bros over profits from the two trilogies they produced. If Disney secures the rights we may hear some grave turning from the author. Tolkien was not a fan. Amazon is producing a ten episode TV series title Bladerunner 2099. This follows 50 years after the sequel film. Ridley Scott is involved as an executive producer and may also direct. Look forward to every character not knowing they are a replicant. What a twist! Finally, Free League Publishing has announced their organized play program. It will be available worldwide and will annually provide exclusive PDF scenarios for all of their most popular TTRPGs. They promise support for gamemasters on a exclusive forum and support materials for conventions and local game store play.

The Weekly LIVE 125 – Dark Souls TTRPG Will Use 5E, Orc Borg, Paizo Boardgames and Forbidden Psalms: The Last War

The Dark Souls TTRPG will use 5E of the world’s greatest roleplaying game. It will attempt to simulate the stamina mechanic in the videogame with what they are calling Position. Orc Borg will soon be crowdfunded by Rowan, Rook and Decard. In this Mork Borg based expansion players are orcs trapped on a spaceship flying towards a crash landing on some unfortunate planet. New mechanics should make it convincingly Orcish…Orcesque? Orcy? Paizo will work with Gale Force Nine to produce three boardgames based on their Pathfinder and Starfinder settings. The makers of Forbidden Psalm, the miniature skirmish game for the Mork Borg RPG setting, will be releasing a new expansion called Forbidden Psalm: The Final War. It will be a small-scale Skirmish game, you play with a crew of 5 miniatures per player, against AI controlled monsters in scenarios that take you across the wastes of the Last War. You will be able to play as enemies, cooperatively or play solo mode.

Tabletop Simulator runs into trouble as their global chat moderators block users. Free League releases the first boxed expansion set for Twilight 2000 Fourth Edition, Urban Operations. Monsters of the Multiverse collects 33 playable monster types from various sources already in print. This will be first available in a slipcase set of expansion books. It also marks the beginning of Wizards of the Coast removing default alignment from monsters and racial bonuses similar to the changes made in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. The Dune pre-production book of the unfilmed Jodorowsky Dune movie was sold at auction to a Dune-loving DAO. They tweeted their plans to develop an animated series and digitally scan, and then burn the book to be made into NFTs.

Magic the Gathering pulls us back in via the Forgotten Realms. The newest incarnation of TSR kept us entertained and spawned our As the Gygax Turns segments. The Embracer Group showed its bottomless appetite for not only video game studios. What will 2022 bring?

So a boardgame publisher and retailer in one easy purchase. For almost US$3billion. THere has been a change to the credits for Ernie Gygax on the release of Giantlands.
