Surreal art collective Meow Wolf is partnering with Exalted Funeral to create “Tavers: The Meow Wolf Roleplaying Game,” launching on Kickstarter in February 2025. Players will take on the role of “tavers” who can rip portals through reality to explore different worlds, encountering elements like immortal cybernetic hamsters and sentient pizza while solving five mysteries across Meow Wolf’s psychedelic multiverse. 

LionWing is bringing the beloved 1986 Japanese TTRPG “Wares Blade” to Western audiences for the first time, blending swords and sorcery with mecha anime aesthetics reminiscent of classics like Magic Knight Rayearth and Visions of Escaflowne.

Critical Role revealed that Brennan Lee Mulligan (Dimension 20’s DM) will helm Campaign 4 starting in October, marking the first time Matthew Mercer won’t be the primary DM for a core campaign. Instead, Mercer will step into a player role alongside both new and returning cast members. This significant change represents Critical Role’s evolution from a group of friends playing D&D to a multimedia corporation, though it has generated mixed reactions from fans concerned about preserving the show’s original chemistry and intimate feel.

MCDM’s “Draw Steel,” which raised $4.6 million on BackerKit, represents a complete departure from D20 systems rather than attempting to “fix D&D.” The game focuses on making players feel like “big damn heroes” from level 1, with tactical grid-based combat that emphasizes movement and cinematic action. Its core mechanic uses 2d10 power rolls with three-tier results, ensuring players always accomplish something meaningful rather than wasting turns on failed rolls, while resource management through class-specific points adds strategic depth.

This move has upset some players who invested in the older models, but Games Workshop’s focus is on growing the Primaris range. Games Workshop reports record revenue, profits, and dividends in its annual report for the year 2023. The company remains committed to continuous development of its intellectual property and expanding its global reach.

Paizo partners with Mirrorscape, an extended reality (XR) tabletop gaming platform, to bring Pathfinder and Starfinder into augmented reality. Players can now experience these games in a more immersive and interactive way using mobile devices. Set to launch on iOS and Android on July 25th, Mirrorscape is already generating buzz among tabletop roleplaying gamers. It offers a truly immersive experience where players can interact with game pieces, terrains, and miniatures in realistic 3D, no matter their location. Modiphius announces the end of their license to produce the Mutant Chronicles TTRPG third edition. All of their current stock of MC material will be half price until June when it will be discontinued. This will also include the remaining stock of their Siege of the Citadel. Did that delayed Kickstarter have anything to do with the end of their license? WizKids will collaborate with Kid Robot to produce a series of 3-inch vinyl figures based on the Dungeons and Dragons first edition Monster Manual. This set will include 14 blind boxes of the miniatures with a slightly chibi design thanks to Kid Robot. It is an odd translation of the original 1E illustrations. Critical Role ran a one shot of an Elden Ring RPG sponsored by Bandai Namco. Will it be a modified 5E or something closer to the upcoming Dark Souls TTRPG? Critical Role also announced another theatrical event partnered with Cinemark to bring their season three campaign to theaters. $40 gets you a ticket and a t-shirt. Round up the Critters and find a cinema near you! Oh, and Cursed City returns. No reasons given.
