Napoleonica: Steel and Magic is a new high fantasy miniature wargame that reimagines the Napoleonic War with elements like Napoleon Bonaparte riding a Hippogriff. The miniatures are noted for their stunning, large-than-life resin casts from Signum Games. Mechanically, the game utilizes a system of drawing random Order Tokens and Maneuver Cards to activate units, which injects friction into army control reminiscent of games like *Memoir ’44*. Additionally, a bid for the Leader role determines the round’s intensity via an Escalation Card, which controls the number of Orders and Maneuver Cards drawn.

En Garde is a forthcoming fast-paced, one-versus-one duelling game in the 54mm scale, set in a Low Fantasy world of swashbucklers and brigands. Conceived by John Blanche and Tuomas Pirinen, the game will feature hand-sculpted miniatures from artists like Paul Hicks, with an initial release via a crowdfunding campaign called Vanguard. The setting includes a twist with vampires being the “good guys,” and the core design aims to make duels dynamic and engaging beyond simple combat.

The sunsetting of the BlackLibrary.com website and the Black Library Audio app will happen on August 31st. They are to be replaced by a single new Black Library app launching on March 18th that will feature an inbuilt eReader and MP3 player. Asmodee made two major announcements, acquiring the Sheriff of Nottingham IP from CMON and striking a second deal with Netflix for Ticket to Ride. The Sheriff of Nottingham acquisition, following previous deals for CMON IPs like Zombicide, is attributed to CMON’s ongoing financial difficulties. Sheriff of Nottingham will join Asmodee’s Z-man studios. The Ticket to Ride deal with Netflix is similar to the Catan deal, granting a license for multiple shows or films. The first project will be a Ticket to Ride film, with Ben Mekler and Chris Amick attached to write the script. No premiere date has been set.

Legitimate Salvage is a new game in the Forbidden Psalm line, a tabletop miniatures game about “corporate space horror” that is inspired by and compatible with the MÖRK BORG TTRPG. In the game, you control a crew of four working for the R&R company, whose business is rescuing people lost in space and who refuse to pay hazard pay unless someone dies, forcing your crew to work off their debt in the great uncaring void. The game features new mechanics, including debt, stress, and rules for zero gravity combat, alongside new monsters and equipment, all compatible with other Forbidden Psalm games like 28 Psalms and Killsampleprocess.

Free League is bringing back the iconic world of Trudvang as a standalone tabletop roleplaying game, *Dragonbane: Trudvang*, which is fully compatible with their current, award-winning edition of *Dragonbane*. The setting, rooted in Nordic mythology, features shadowed woods, dreadful beasts, and endless mystery. The core rulebook will adapt and expand the *Dragonbane* ruleset for the *Trudvang* setting, including new kin, professions, heroic abilities, and unique magic for vitner weavers and dimwalkers. The Kickstarter campaign offers four hardback volumes in Swedish and English, with early access Beta PDFs a few months after the campaign concludes.

Modiphius and Humble Bundle have released a massive Fallout Tabletop Mega Bundle, which includes content for both the *Fallout Tabletop RPG* and the *Fallout: Wasteland Warfare* miniatures skirmish game. The bundle offers over $1k worth of items for $25, with a significant draw being the STL files for miniatures, allowing 3D printing enthusiasts to create various terrain pieces, iconic Bobbleheads, cars, and other items from the Wasteland. Even without a 3D printer, the bundle provides a robust selection of PDF rulebooks, including the RPG Core Rulebook, Settler’s and Wanderer’s Guides, NPC packs, the *Winter of Atom* campaign, and *Wasteland Warfare* expansions like *Liberty Prime*. MyMiniFactory announced its acquisition of Thingiverse, the world’s oldest and largest 3D printing community, adding it to its family alongside YouMagine. MyMiniFactory’s decade-long focus has been on building a sustainable platform for creators, having paid out over $100 million to designers. The acquisition aims to support the underserved Thingiverse community by providing creators with the necessary tools, support, and business models. As part of MyMiniFactory’s 2025 “SoulCrafted initiative” to protect human creativity from AI-generated content, Thingiverse will now adopt a zero-tolerance stance on AI-generated designs. The platforms will remain independent, and the open sharing culture, including existing free models, will be preserved.

Mantic Games has announced they will be publishing a new *Ghost in the Shell* Tabletop Roleplaying Game in 2026. This new RPG is based solely on the original manga by Shirow Masamune. It features a bespoke design by Alessio Cavatore and Zak Barouh, combining fast-paced, narrative-driven mechanics with the philosophical depth of the source material. The game is set in a near-future world of cybernetics and political intrigue, where players design their own trainee agents in Section 9 and features rules for combat and hacking, a rich armoury of gear, and the first mission, *Lost Patriot*. This is the second *Ghost in the Shell* TTRPG due in the same year, following the crowd-funded *Ghost in the Shell Arise TTRPG* by Mana Project Studio, which is based on the anime.

Blades ’68 is an official 450-page expansion for the TTRPG Blades in the Dark. This supplement advances the timeline 100 years to the “Swinging Sixties” in the city of Doskvol, an age of electroplasmic fusion and “Bluetime” spy games. The expansion introduces new playbooks, crews, and a revamped setting, alongside new rules for Harm, Resistance, Keys, Deadlocks, and an adapted Trouble Engine. The campaign has been overwhelmingly funded, with an expected delivery date of August 2026.

Paizo, the publisher of Pathfinder, announced the new Pathfinder Beginner Box: Secrets of the Unlit Star, an all-inclusive entry point to Pathfinder Second Edition set for release on May 6th, 2026. The box set features a solo adventure, a 72-page Hero’s Handbook, an 88-page Game Master’s Guide, and updated rules for character options and adventure scenarios. The official announcement of Crows by MCDM Productions, a new dungeon-crawling RPG led by James Introcaso appeared on Patreon. The game uses D6s and D10s, features a health system tied to inventory slots similar to Knave, and determines experience points based on the value of loot collected. It differs from a previous project, Draw Steel, by including potential negative results on the “power roll” but allows unlimited circumstantial bonuses for good planning. Crows also includes a base-building component where players develop their headquarters town and is set in a world where Archmages, corrupted by their magic, disappeared after warring as Necromancers.

Undergoblin Heist by Hit Point Press is a hardcover adventure available with six accompanying miniatures. This wild sandbox goblin adventure is compatible with both Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Edition and Dungeon Crawl Classics. The players take on the role of the “Grotty Jacknives,” expert sneak-goblins tasked by Boss Soot to steal three magical artifacts from a cabbage goblin village. The adventure includes pre-generated characters, new species/class rules, a new spell, and a goblin Critical Hits table, and is written by Thom Denick with art and design by Bee Ho.

The “Magic: The Gathering’s newest Secret Lair” drop, titled ‘Prints Charming,’ was released on February 2 as a “Chaos Vault” experiment by Wizards of the Coast. The collection is a quartet of green spells with different illustration styles, but its unusual aspect is the variable pricing tiers. Instead of a fixed price, the drop was offered at multiple points, ranging from a low of $9.99 up to $39.99 (and a foil version up to $49.99), ostensibly to test how much fans value the product. Despite the secondary market value of the cards being around $6, the experiment yielded bizarre sales results, with the most expensive $49.99 foil edition selling out earlier than the cheaper $29.99 foil edition, indicating some buyers were voluntarily paying more. The article speculates this could be due to hopes for a secret bonus card, automated bots, or individuals opting for a higher price to leave cheaper options for others.

Orcs & Crafts Zine, a Kickstarter project focused on miniature terrain building rather than a game itself. The zine aims to teach the basics of creating miniature worlds, with the first 60-page issue focusing on cardboard foundations and requiring only basic tools like scissors and a hobby knife. The project emphasizes accessibility, creative control, and using everyday materials. Penguin Random House is releasing two new interactive D&D Workbooks on May 5th, 2026: the Player’s Workbook of Epic Adventures and the Dungeon Master’s Workbook of Worldbuilding. These companions to the revised core rulebooks offer exercises and prompts for character creation and campaign setting development, respectively.

Arcalink’s new tech from CES 2026, including the Arcalink One, a small, expensive handheld gadget that displays a player’s digital character and spell animations, and Arca Studio, an AI-powered subscription software designed to help Dungeon Masters manage campaigns by recording sessions and generating word clouds of recurring in-game elements.

The Lancer TTRPG, known for its mech combat and deep crunch, has grown into a major force in the community. Its unofficial hub, Pilot.Net, boasts over 58,000 members, making it one of the largest Discord communities for a single TTRPG outside of Dungeons & Dragons. Despite a slow release schedule of official supplements from Massif Press, the game’s audience remains engaged, thanks to the continuous stream of high-quality third-party fan publications, such as the widely accepted Legionnaire supplement.

Games Workshop (GW) has drawn a line in the sand regarding generative AI, with CEO Kevin Rountree announcing a “very cautious” internal policy that bans AI-generated content and its use in the company’s core “design processes,” which includes miniature sculpting, concept art, and rule writing. This restriction also extends to unauthorized use in GW-related competitions. Rountree noted that while a small number of senior managers are permitted to remain “inquisitive” about the tech, the overall intent is to protect GW’s intellectual property and reinforce its commitment to human creators through continued investment in its Warhammer Studio.

Chaosium is releasing a premium collector’s set to celebrate its 50th anniversary as a games company (though one article notes Call of Cthulhu’s 50th is still a few years away). The set includes the Keeper Rulebook, Investigator Rulebook, and Keeper Screen Pack in a slipcase with new art by Ola Larsson. The contents are the same as current editions. It will retail for $139.99

Guild Ball is transitioning to a more digital, print-and-play format, with all existing official Guild Ball teams—including main Guilds like the Fishermen and Butchers, and Minor Guilds such as the Lumberjacks—now available as STL files on MyMiniFactory for 3D printing. These files are provided in both supported and unsupported versions, and players can also download a free Starter Set featuring the Brewers and Masons from the Steamforged Games website, where all the official Guild Ball Cards are also located.

Arc Dream, publishers of Delta Green, has released playtesting rules for an upcoming The Black Company RPG, based on Glen Cook’s dark fantasy series.

The game is a d100 system designed for “fast, suspenseful play” with a focus on soldier life, a streamlined player-facing interface, and “grit-forward” mechanics for Stress and Damage.

Mongoose Publishing and World’s Largest RPGs are partnering to license a version of the venerable Traveller RPG using the D&D 5th Edition ruleset. This 5E version is an expansion, not a replacement for the current Mongoose edition.

The project is massive, planned as 4-5 books collected into a 2,000-page slipcase edition, and aims to go beyond the existing universe to pave the way for new settings. Development will be led by longtime RPG designer Timothy Brown. It is expected to release in 2026.

Modiphius Entertainment is producing a new line of Discworld tabletop games starting in 2026.

Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork (a TTRPG) will have a retail core rulebook and a starter set in Q2 2026, following a successful crowdfunding campaign. Discworld: Readers Digested (a board game reskin of Blue Moon City) will launch via pre-order on Gamefound in Q1 2026. A card game called Kill Sam Vimes is planned for Q3 2026.

The Weekly Podcast no.313 – Rebecca Heineman, Old School Essentials 2026, Fantasy Grounds & Alchemy Free and Lankhmar Bundle

Rebecca Heineman, a pioneering programmer and game designer, has passed away at age 62 from adenocarcinoma. Heralded as the ‘first-ever video game champion,’ she co-founded Interplay Productions (creators of Fallout and Wasteland) and later founded two more studios, Contraband Entertainment and Logicware. Heineman was also a trailblazer for transgender game developers, transitioning mid-career in 2003, and was honored with the Gayming Icon Award for her work and advocacy.

Old School Essentials (OSE) will have a 2026 Update, which aims to streamline the core product line of the beloved old-school RPG. Necrotic Gnome is consolidating its five existing core products into two definitive, 256-page hardcovers: the OSE Player’s Book and Referee’s Book, based on the popular Advanced Fantasy ruleset. The new books will feature a new cover design, approximately 200 new illustrations, enhanced introductory material, a glossary and index, and minor rule tweaks and optional rules (like training and XP for magic items). Crucially, the update ensures 100% compatibility with older OSE books and makes the entire core game 100% OGL-Free for long-term legal safety.

Both Fantasy Grounds and Alchemy VTT announced that their core platforms are now completely free to play. Fantasy Grounds removed its previous one-time license or recurring subscription barrier, allowing Game Masters and players to host and join unlimited games immediately. Its developer, SmiteWorks, also launched a beta for a web-based Fantasy Grounds Online Reader. Similarly, Alchemy VTT is now free with unlimited access to games, characters, game systems (“Universes”), and asset uploads, replacing its subscription with an optional “Alchemist” supporter model.
