Corvus Belli, the Spanish miniature wargame publisher, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Founded in 2001 by three friends, the company began with 15mm scale historical miniatures before launching the 28mm scale ‘Warcrow’ fantasy models in 2002. Their breakthrough came with the 2005 release of the sci-fi skirmish wargame Infinity, which evolved from a modified Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Infinity is notable for its unique rules, including an “active” and “reactive” turn system that keeps both players engaged, a flexible order system, and the use of D20s instead of D6s. The game has since grown through several editions, expansions, and community support like the official Infinity Army web application. Corvus Belli also launched the Infinity Tournament System in 2010 to support competitive play and has continuously pushed the metaplot forward, including the recent Endsong expansion and the new Next Wave faction released in 2025. The company’s expansion has included collaborations like the Infinity tabletop RPG with Modiphius in 2015 and major board games such as Aristeia (2017), Infinity Defiance (2019), and TAG Raid (2021).

Atlas Games co-owner John Nephew announced he is removing all of their products from Amazon’s Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program due to what he describes as “lousy business partner” practices, including bait and switch promotions and inexplicable storage/shipping fees. To minimize waste and ensure the inventory goes to gamers instead of being destroyed, he is offering to send individual FBA items—including board games, card games like Gloom, the Over the Edge RPG, and accessories—for free to any gamer in the USA. Interested parties can email him their mailing address by the end of January 2026.

The Dungeons & Dragons crossover with Fortnite, which has resulted in a new series of five fan-made, D&D-themed islands created by community creators Chartis and Teravision Games. These islands range from a PvP arena and co-op boss fight to the largest co-op roguelike in Fortnite history, featuring D&D locations like the Yawning Portal and legendary characters like Klauth the dragon. The article writer expresses skepticism about the marketing value of the crossover, questioning its appeal to non-D&D fans and suggesting the focus should be on this year’s actual D&D rulebook release schedule instead of guest appearances in video games.

Lex Ecclesiastica, a free, unofficial Warhammer 40k narrative TTRPG that centers on the all-female Adepta Sororitas, or Sisters of Battle. The game uses the Resistance Toolbox system, which is “built around struggle,” with players juggling core stats like Body, Faith, Authority, Fortune, and Corruption. The game is praised for giving depth to the Sisters of Battle faction, blending the over-the-top violence of the 40k setting with the somber storytelling required for these dogmatic warriors, and it is available for free download on itch.io. The document also mentions a Humble RPG Bundle: So You Wanna Try Out Call of Cthulhu, which offers over 25 books and game aids for the seminal RPG, with proceeds supporting the World Wildlife Fund.

The Weekly LIVE 202 – Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone, Windheim & Horn of the Dawn, Garbage and Glor and Mantic’s Epic Warpath

Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone is a miniatures skirmish game based on the Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing universe. It offers a meaty experience with easy-to-read cards and tokens, inspired by turn-based tactical games like XCOM. The game is affordable and shipping to crowdfunding backers, with pre-orders open for retail release. Combat Zone is based on the same source material as CD Projekt Red’s own blockbuster multiplatform hit, R. Talsorian Games’ Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing universe. First published in the 1980s, Cyberpunk 2020 was later rebooted with Cyberpunk Red, the analog prequel to Cyberpunk 2077. So while the action technically takes place about 30 years before the events of the video game, many of the factions, weapons, and tropes will immediately be familiar to fans of V and Johnny Silverhand.

The Windheim Companion and The Horn of the Dawn are two books by Nordic Skalds. Windheim is a fantasy world setting for Dragonbane/Drakar och Demoner, set on an island with various factions in conflict. The Horn of the Dawn is a campaign trilogy set in Windheim, offering epic battles, political intrigue, and more.

Garbage & Glory is a tabletop RPG where players control raccoon adventurers diving into the human world to find valuable trash. The game features playable classes, a +One System gameplay mechanic, and garbage and glory cards for rewards.

Warpath, a mass-battle game in the Warpath Universe, is being reconsidered by Mantic Games. The studio has been working on refining the rules for an epic-scale version but faces competition from another company. They seek input from the community to decide the game’s direction, including possible retail launch, plastic models, and distribution channels.

The Weekly LIVE 162 – Paizo PDFs Price Increase, Assassin’s Creed TTRPG by CMON, New Heroquest Hero Collection Expansion, Magic’s Universes Beyond and Mutant Year Zero Skirmish Game

Paizo will be raising its PDF prices following an increase in labor to produce them. Previously they just priced PDFs at flat percentage of the print books MSRP. The price increase seems modest and for some things, like flip mats, the price is actually going down in some cases.  With the new found popularity of VTTs and nicer displays on tablets to read PDFs it seems inevitable to try to make more profit from the easier to produce digital products. We will see who else follows suit.

 

CMON is producing an Assassin’s Creed TTRPG based on the 15 year old video game. The game will involve playing both Descendants, the modern day characters and Ancestors, the assassins of the Brotherhood from various historical periods. This is done by using a virtual reality technology called the ANIMUS that taps into the genetic information in your DNA to access your Ancestors lives. It was a cool concept for a game and if done right may be really fun on the tabletop. The development is being overseen by the talented Francesco Nepitello for Guillotine Press, the CMON RPG studio.

 

Heroquest is getting a Hero Collection Expansion. The Rogue Heir of Elethorn, a nimble elf skirmisher. This set includes two miniatures (possibly a single character gender swapped) and cards. It retails for a hefty US$17 and I would call that overpriced just based on the quality of the Heroquest base game. At least they are supporting the game with new expansions.

 

Magic: the Gathering Universes Beyond is a “success” but annoying series for many serious MtG players. It involves reskinning cards using various popular IPs. The first of these being the Walking Dead television series. The series relies on FOMO, but has offered reprints. The main attraction to players seems to be the desirable cards and not the IPs themselves. Look forward to Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar, Lord of the Rings and other odd fits into the collectible card game system. 

 

Free League is releasing a miniatures skirmish game based on the Mutant Year Zero TTRPG called Zone Wars. Games Workshop designer Andy Chambers, known for Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Necromunda and Battlefleet Gothic and Tomas Härenstam, designer for Mutant: Year Zero and the studio’s Alien: The RPG. You can use your characters from the TTRPG in the skirmish game and also play out the aftermath of the skirmish game in the TTRPG. Brilliant! Really looking forward to this.

The Weekly LIVE 134 – The Return of Space Dwarves, Cyberpunk Viking Women, Blade Runner Crowdfunding and FREE Stuff

Games Workshop has announced with a switcheroo April Fools joke that Squats will be returning to the Warhammer 40k setting. Now called the very trademarkable Leagues Of Votann, these space dwarf miniatures look a bit more generic than their original incarnation. This crosses off another longtime fan request following plastic Sisters of Battle from a fews years back.

Mongoose Publishing will be Kickstarting a new tabletop RPG called Shield Maidens. This original setting will combine Norse mythology with Cyberpunk elements. Players take the role of high technology cyberpunk armor and weaponry equipped women warriors as the Fenrir empire spread, the supply of Ymir’s Blood begins to dwindle and the Ragnarok approaches. The most difficult question to answer is will you play Viking Metal or Synthwave during your gaming session? Maybe both?

Disappointingly, the official Blade Runner TTRPG by Free League will be crowdfunding on Kickstarter this May. This contradicts their approach with the Alien RPG releasing the game directly to retail preorder. We are sure they have their reasons and hopefully the campaign will lead to a larger release than direct to retail would allow. Following The One Ring Second Edition, it is yet another IP that should have a built-in audience that would support it without crowdfunding. Let’s hope it is the best decision and not the beginning of a good publisher starting to lean too heavily on licensed IPs.
