Cubicle 7 is launching a new 5th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) in 2026, coinciding with the game’s 40th anniversary. The new edition, described as an “evolution, not a revolution,” will retain the D100 system and focus on standardizing rules and streamlining peripheral subsystems while maintaining backward compatibility with 4th edition supplements. Dominic McDowall, Head of Creative and Design, highlighted the intention to make the game “a little more deadly” and confirmed a new mega-campaign is in the works.

Free League Publishing announced Dragonbane: Trudvang, a new game world and setting for their Dragonbane RPG, launching on Kickstarter in early 2026. This massive setting, rooted in Nordic mythology, will feature four hardback volumes: a World Book, a Book of Heroes, Jorgi’s Bestiary, and The Black Sun epic campaign. Dragonbane: Trudvang is a licensed product from CMON and will feature art from Paul Bonner and Alvaro Tapia.

Chaosium is also celebrating the 40th anniversary of Pendragon with a Kickstarter for a Pendragon Classic Edition deluxe boxed set. This faithful recreation of the 1st edition includes the original 1985 cover art, a Player Book, a Gamemaster book, a map, play aids, and pregenerated character sheets. The campaign also offers expansions like The Pendragon Campaign, The Grey Knight, and Tournament of Dreams.

Evil Hat Productions has a Kickstarter for Designers & Dragons: Origins, a four-volume set by historian Shannon Appelcline. This new series chronicles the history of over 300 products released by TSR for Original D&D, Advanced D&D 1e, and Basic D&D from 1971 to 1995. The ~1400-page set will be released as a deluxe hardcover box set with full-color interiors, ribbon bookmarks, and a custom slipcase, with a projected delivery date of July 2026. Due to shipping complexities, physical books will only be shipped to the USA, with international backers offered PDF, ePub, and print-on-demand options.

Wargames Atlantic’s CEO, Hudson Adams, has revealed his true identity as Tony Reidy, a figure previously associated with two troubled miniature wargames companies, Wargames Factory and Defiance Games. Reidy founded Wargames Factory in 2007/8 with the goal of producing hard plastic figures faster and cheaper using an all-digital tooling process. However, the company faced numerous challenges, including quality issues, delays, and a problematic deal with a Chinese factory owner who eventually took control and rebranded the company. After years of working to pay down debts and process the past, Reidy, under the new identity of Hudson Adams, founded Wargames Atlantic in 2018. His motivation was to build a successful company and, eventually, to make good on the failed Defiance Games Kickstarter. Now, after six years of Wargames Atlantic’s operation, Reidy has announced that the company is in a position to refund the original Defiance Games Kickstarter backers.

Steamforged Games is releasing a new Warmachine Core Book, available for pre-order at $44.99 and releasing on December 11, 2025. This 140+ page hardback includes rules, lore, and artwork for the Iron Kingdoms setting. There are also free Quick Start Guides, Rules-Only PDFs, and a Warmachine App available.

The Avatar Legends 20th Anniversary Humble Bundle offers physical items for the Avatar Legends RPG, including a starter set, dice pack, cloth map, dice bag, GM screen, and journal pack for $49. The bundle celebrates the 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender and benefits charity.

Mantic Digital has announced an upcoming Digital Campaign for Epic Warpath, revealing that STL files for core troops will now be available to backers. Previous STL backers will receive a special discounted bundle for extra files at £5/army. The Warpath Universe is a sci-fi setting where factions battle across galaxies, and this digital STL campaign aims to empower players to build and print their armies at a grand scale.

Vast Grimm is a dying universe RPG that offers players a chance to explore. Creator Brian Colin has relaunched the game as a Kickstarter, “Vast Grimm – Escaping Stasis,” which expands the universe and refines the rules. Colin has taken full control of the game, allowing him to directly print and mail books to fans. The new campaign offers modular rules, breaking the core book into a Player and Game Master’s guide, and includes an “Upgrade Toolkit” for all supporters. Archon Studios has begun revealing models for its upcoming Starcraft tabletop miniatures game with initial photographs showing hydralisks, zerglings, and Terran marines. The bundle uses the Advanced Fighting Fantasy system and includes scenarios like exploring a wizard’s warehouse, being hired by a plant king, and escaping a demi-god.

The Gygax Memorial Fund is launching a Kickstarter on October 1st, 2025, to raise $150,000 for a memorial game table in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, honoring Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of Dungeons & Dragons. The memorial will feature a bronze map of Gygax’s first ever D&D dungeon level, scaled for use with miniatures. Higher pledge levels include a bronze ‘throne’ and a statue of Gary Gygax himself. The Gygax Memorial Fund, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Gary’s widow, Gail Gygax, received land for the memorial in 2024, during the 50th anniversary year of the game.

Melsonian Arts Council (creators of Troika and Longshot City) has announced a move away from crowdfunding platforms to a pre-order system on their website. They describe the Kickstarter/Backerkit/ETC experience as stressful, excessively time consuming, and broadly demoralising, hindering their goal of making books faster. This DIY Crowdfunding approach, starting September 4, 2025, aims to crowdfund our own books, on our own shop, on our own schedule. They view modern crowdfunding as glorified pre-orders and state they will absolutely still make these books if we don’t hit our funding goal. Pre-ordered books are cheaper! and supporters may receive fancy extras. The first two projects, Witch-War to the Vale of Forbiddiction and Beyond and The Perilous Pear & Plum Pies of Pudwick, are expected to ship around January 2026.

Of Oil and Iron is a 3D-printable, Print-and Play dieselpunk mecha skirmish wargame set in the war-torn, resource-starved Smoglands where towering Rig-manufacturing corporations have grown so vast, they’ve swallowed the nations that once governed them. Scott, the solo developer behind this project, has poured his heart into sculpting miniatures, writing lore, and designing mechanics. This Kickstarter is digital only, providing resin pre-supported 3D files in both 15mm and 32mm scale. Players Build Your Rigs by choosing from Light, Medium, Heavy, Colossal chassis and customize them with weapons and equipment. The game features Rig Control Terminal, Weapon Cards and Equipment Cards, and mechanics like Manage Your Engine Heat and React and Counter. The digital rulebook offers Core Rules, Lore about the Smoglands, Lore and rules for each faction, Short stories, and a Campaign system. Backers will receive access to the beta version of the rules.

Kings of War 4th Edition, with rules written by Alessio Cavatore, is set to launch in December 2025. The primary goals are refine and modernise the rules, introduce new tactical depth, and improve clarity. To enhance Clarity and Accessibility, the rulebook is split into core rules and advanced rules. Streamlining and Standardisation efforts include changes to Unit Sizes (Large Infantry and Cavalry now use Troops and Regiments), Hero Bases (all Infantry, Heavy Infantry, and Cavalry Heroes now use 40mm or 50mm bases), and a Single Nerve Value. Traits Replace Keywords for clearer and more meaningful interactions. Unit Positioning now uses a defined centre-point and facing-points. Special Rules and Hero Behaviour have been updated, and extensive Playtesting and Community Feedback have shaped the new edition.

Pinnacle Entertainment Group launched a Kickstarter campaign for Deadlands: Dark Ages, a new installment in the Deadlands saga set in 877 AD Britain. The campaign, which went live on September 9, 2025, quickly surpassed its initial goal, raising over 1500% and accumulating over $135,000 in pledges within the first day. This new release, utilizing the Savage Worlds system, introduces players to a war-torn Britain battling supernatural forces, including the Four Horsemen and Morgana’s dark magic, with heroes aided by Merlin’s magic hexguns. The Kickstarter offers a core rulebook, a graphic novel, an accessories box with FastForge™ Terrain, a Cursed Village Terrain Expansion, and premium metal Conviction Dice. The campaign is set to close on October 3, 2025.

Diamond Comic Distributors has initiated adversary proceedings against 31 consignment vendors, ranging from Ablaze LLC to Zenescope Entertainment, Inc., to seize and sell their consignment inventory held in Diamond’s warehouse. This action follows a bankruptcy court order requiring individual proceedings against each vendor. Major publishers involved include Titan Comics, Paizo Inc., Oni Press, Goodman Games, Fantagraphics Books, Dynamite Entertainment, DSTLRY, Dark Horse Comics, and BOOM! Entertainment. Concurrently, consignment publishers are seeking access to $1.57 million generated from unauthorized sales of their inventory by Sparkle Pop, the company that acquired Diamond Comic Distributors’ assets.

Sparkle Pop has responded to Diamond’s motion regarding its sales of consignment inventory, claiming that these sales occurred due to Diamond’s inaction and that they have ceased selling the inventory prior to Diamond’s motion. Sparkle Pop alleges that Diamond failed to remove consignment inventory listings from the website and co-mingled the inventory in its warehouse. They state that they continued to fill orders out of concern for liability for damages if orders were not fulfilled and inventory value declined, and are currently holding the $1.57 million in funds from these sales, awaiting a court decision on who should be paid. Sparkle Pop also argues that Diamond is obligated to pay over $433,000 in shipping and other costs incurred by Sparkle Pop to fulfill these orders. Both the Ad Hoc Committee of Consignors and The Consignment Group have filed objections to Diamond’s motion against Sparkle Pop, requesting the court to protect the proceeds of the sales until the ownership dispute is resolved.

The Pathfinder Abomination Vaults Adventure Path, originally from Paizo, has been adapted for D&D Beyond in a 5th Edition (5E) version. This “megadungeon” campaign, taking players from levels 1-11, is now available digitally on D&D Beyond. Surreal art collective Meow Wolf is partnering with Exalted Funeral to create “Tavers: The Meow Wolf Roleplaying Game,” launching on Kickstarter in February 2025. Players will take on the role of “tavers” who can rip portals through reality to explore different worlds, encountering elements like immortal cybernetic hamsters and sentient pizza while solving five mysteries across Meow Wolf’s psychedelic multiverse.

LionWing is bringing the beloved 1986 Japanese TTRPG “Wares Blade” to Western audiences for the first time, blending swords and sorcery with mecha anime aesthetics reminiscent of classics like Magic Knight Rayearth and Visions of Escaflowne.

Critical Role revealed that Brennan Lee Mulligan (Dimension 20’s DM) will helm Campaign 4 starting in October, marking the first time Matthew Mercer won’t be the primary DM for a core campaign. Instead, Mercer will step into a player role alongside both new and returning cast members. Its core mechanic uses 2d10 power rolls with three-tier results, ensuring players always accomplish something meaningful rather than wasting turns on failed rolls, while resource management through class-specific points adds strategic depth.
